Emergence capacity and seedlings early growth of four legumes in arid zones under NaCl-stress

چکیده

Legumes are used as fodder and green manures, because of fix nitrogen biologically. The objective this study was to determine the emergence capacity early growth four legume species treated with different NaCl-stress concentrations. experiment established in a completely randomized design factorial arrangement, where first factor legumes’ (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp., Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet, Clitoria ternatea Canavalia ensiformis DC.) second NaCl concentrations (0.25, 50, 75 mM) 16 treatments replications. variables evaluated were rate percentage, stem root length, fresh dry weight stem+leaves root, diameter ratio stems+leaves roots (plant balance). results showed that all expressed significant differences between species, × interaction. A differential response legumes stress observed. most tolerant Vigna higher tolerance respect ternatea.

Effect of Seed Priming with Salicylic Acid and Jasmonic Acid on Emergence and Early Growth of Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) Seedlings under Drought Stress Condition

In order to study the effect of seed priming with salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonic acid (JA) on emergence and early growth of pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) seedlings  under drought stress condition, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications was conducted at the greenhouse of Malayer university. Experimental treatments were seed priming with sal...

Influence of salicylic acid pre-treatment on emergence and early seedling growth of cucumber (Cucumis sativus)under salt stress

Salicylic acid (SA) is a common, plant-produced signal molecule that is responsible for inducing tolerance to a number of biotic and abiotic stresses. An experiment was therefore conducted to test whether the application of SA at various concentrations (0, 0.25, 0.50 or 1.0 mM) through a seed-soaking method would protect cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) seedlings subjected to salt stress. Aft...

Effects of magnetic fields on some physiological factors and antioxidant capacity of Silibum marianum L. seedlings under salt stress

Salinity is one of the most important abiotic stresses that have restricted affects on plant growth and yield. Magnetic field can ameliorate the negative effect of salinity with induction of plant antioxidant activity. In present research, the effect of static magnetic fields (0 anf 4 mT) on some physiological parameters and antioxidative capacity were investigated under salinity stress at conc...

Effect of silicon application on wheat seedlings growth under water-deficit stress induced by polyethylene glycol

Silicon is known to ameliorate the deleterious effects of drought on plant growth. We evaluated growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. CV. Chamran) under Water-Deficit Stress Induced by Polyethylene Glycol as affected by Si application. In this article, the effects of Si (as potassium silicate) on some parameters related to growth, chlorophyll concentration relative water content (RWC), electrol...

Heat Stress Management for Milk Production in Arid Zones

Arid and semi-arid zones account for one third of the earth's surface land area and cover most parts of the developing nations in the world including Latin America, Africa, and parts of India and South East Asia. Nevertheless, these ecosystems are not exclusive of developing countries because they also exist in developed nations such as United States of America, Spain, Australia, and Israel, am...
